Threading

Eyebrow and Facial Threading in Rainford, St Helens

Threading is a precise, quick way to shape your brows and remove unwanted facial hair, leaving a sharp, defined look. At Hannah Clarke Advanced Skin and Beauty in Rainford we offer eyebrow threading, lip, chin and sides of face threading, plus thread and tint combinations for brows and lashes.

What Is Threading?

Threading removes hair using a thin cotton thread, twisted and rolled across the skin to lift out rows of hair from the root. It is a traditional technique that gives a very clean, precise line, which is why it is such a popular choice for brows.

Because nothing hot or sticky is applied to the skin, threading is a brilliant alternative to waxing if you have sensitive skin, or if you use retinol or any other skin-thinning creams.

Why Choose Threading?

PrecisionThe thread can pick out individual hairs, so brows are shaped exactly and lines are sharp and defined.
Kind to sensitive skinNo wax, no heat and no chemicals, so it suits sensitive skin and anyone using retinol or prescription skincare.
QuickMost threading appointments take just a few minutes.
Removes fine hairThreading lifts the fine, short hairs that wax can miss, leaving skin smooth.

Areas We Thread

  • Eyebrows, for a clean, defined shape
  • Upper lip
  • Chin
  • Lip and chin together
  • Sides of the face

Want colour too? Our eyebrow thread and tint gives definition as well as shape, and our thread, brow tint and lash tint combination is a full brow and lash tidy in one appointment. Tinting needs a patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment.

What to Expect

We start by talking about the shape you want and checking your skin. The area is cleansed, then the thread is worked across the skin to remove the hair. Threading can sting a little, a bit like plucking several hairs at once, but each area is over very quickly. Afterwards we apply a soothing product to calm the skin.

A little redness is normal and usually fades within an hour or so. Avoid make-up, heat, sunbeds and active skincare on the area for the rest of the day.

How Long Does Threading Last?

Results usually last around three to five weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows. Regular appointments keep brows in shape and, over time, regrowth can become finer.

Looking for a longer-term solution for facial hair? Laser hair removal for facial hair gives a lasting reduction. For more brow options, including lamination and tinting, see our eyebrows page, and for body hair removal, see waxing.

Threading: The Questions Everyone Asks

Does threading hurt?

It can sting a little, a bit like plucking several hairs at once, but it is very quick. Most people find it gets easier with regular appointments.

Is threading better than waxing for brows?

Threading is more precise and does not use heat or wax, so it is a great choice for defined brows and sensitive skin. It is also suitable if you use retinol or other skin-thinning creams.

How long does threading last?

Usually around three to five weeks, depending on your hair growth.

Do I need a patch test?

Not for threading on its own. If you are adding a brow or lash tint, you need a patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment.

Can I thread if I use retinol?

Yes. Threading is a brilliant alternative to waxing if you use retinol or other skin-thinning creams.
