The Nefertiti lift treats the vertical bands that appear down the front of the neck, known clinically as platysmal bands, using botulinum toxin type A. Relaxing the platysma muscle, which pulls downward on the jaw and neck, softens those bands and can give the jawline a cleaner edge.
It is named after the sculpted neck and jawline on the bust of Queen Nefertiti. It is not surgery, it is not a facelift, and it does not remove loose skin. What it does is release a downward pull, which changes how the neck and jaw sit.
At Hannah Clarke Advanced Skin and Beauty in Rainford, it is carried out by Gemma, a registered nurse of 12+ years and an Independent Nurse Prescriber.
Those vertical cords down the front of the neck are muscle, not skin.
The platysma is a broad, thin sheet of muscle running from the chest and shoulders up across the neck and into the lower face. Over time, and with repeated movement, its edges can become visible as vertical bands, particularly when you talk or tense.
Because the platysma pulls downward, it also works against the muscles that hold the jawline. Relaxing it takes that downward pull off, which is where the jawline definition comes from.
This is a treatment for banding and definition. It is not a treatment for loose or sagging skin, and it will not replace lost volume. If skin laxity is the main concern, this is not the right treatment and Gemma will tell you so at consultation.
Realistic expectations matter more here than on most treatments, which is why the consultation is not a formality.
Botulinum toxin type A is a Prescription-Only Medicine, so treatment always starts with a consultation and a prescription rather than a walk-in appointment.
Every appointment follows the same sequence, and it starts before anything is injected.
The injections themselves take a few minutes. The whole appointment is around 20 to 30 minutes.
Nothing is visible immediately. Most of the botulinum toxin is taken up into the muscle within the first 20 minutes. For the first four hours, no makeup, and avoid excessive bending or lying down. After that you can carry on as normal.
Who cannot have it. Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with an infection at the injection site, and anyone under 18. Gemma will not inject anyone under 21. A neuromuscular disorder or ongoing chemotherapy needs a more in-depth consultation rather than ruling treatment out automatically.
She will also decline to treat anyone she believes may be experiencing body dysmorphia, anyone with unrealistic expectations, and anyone she does not think will follow the aftercare.
