Profhilo and Skin Boosters

Profhilo and Skin Boosters in Rainford, St Helens

Skin looking tired, dull or crepey even though you look after it? Fine lines that make-up settles into, or a neck and jawline that have lost a little bounce? Skin boosters work on the quality of the skin itself rather than changing your features, so you look fresher and more hydrated, just like you.

At Hannah Clarke Advanced Skin and Beauty in Rainford we offer Profhilo alongside a choice of other skin boosters, including Seventy Hyal, Revitrane, Lumi Pro and Lumi Eyes. Every skin booster treatment starts with a consultation, so we can recommend the booster that suits your skin, your concerns and your budget.

What Are Skin Boosters?

Skin boosters are injectable treatments placed into the skin to improve hydration, elasticity and overall skin quality. Most are based on hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule your skin makes naturally to hold on to water. We make less of it as we age, which is one reason skin starts to look thinner, drier and less springy.

Unlike dermal filler, a skin booster is not used to add volume or reshape an area. It spreads through the skin to hydrate and support it from within. Unlike anti-wrinkle injections, it does not relax muscles. The aim is better skin: smoother texture, more glow and a softer look to fine lines.

What Is Profhilo?

Profhilo is a bio-remodelling injectable made by IBSA in Italy. It contains a high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid that spreads evenly under the skin once injected. As well as hydrating, it is designed to encourage your skin to produce more of its own collagen and elastin, which is what gives it a firmer, more elastic feel over the following weeks.

Profhilo is placed using a small number of injection points on each side of the face, so the appointment is quick and there is very little downtime. It is popular for the face, the neck and lower face, and anyone whose skin has become lax or dehydrated, including during and after the menopause.

Our Skin Booster Range

ProfhiloA bio-remodelling hyaluronic acid treatment that improves hydration and elasticity and encourages collagen and elastin production. Our most popular option for overall skin quality and early laxity.
Seventy HyalAn advanced hyaluronic acid treatment designed to intensely hydrate and rejuvenate the skin, improving elasticity and softening fine lines.
RevitraneA further skin booster option your practitioner can talk you through at consultation, depending on your skin and goals.
Lumi ProA skin booster for radiance and hydration that targets fine lines and uneven skin tone, for a smoother and more luminous complexion.
Lumi EyesMade for the delicate skin around the eyes. It helps brighten the area and reduce the look of dark circles and fine lines, for a more rested look.

Who Are Skin Boosters For?

Skin boosters suit most adults who want healthier, more hydrated skin without changing the shape of their face. Clients often come to us because:

  • Their skin looks dull or tired, even with a good skincare routine
  • They have fine lines and crepey texture on the face, neck or chest
  • Their skin has started to lose firmness, often around the jawline and lower face
  • They have dark circles or thin skin under the eyes
  • They want a natural-looking boost before a wedding or event
  • Their skin has become drier and thinner during perimenopause or menopause

Skin boosters are not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or cold sore in the area, or have certain medical conditions. We go through your medical history in full at your consultation and will tell you honestly if a treatment is not right for you.

What Happens at Your Appointment

  1. Consultation. We talk about your skin, what is bothering you and your medical history, then recommend the booster and number of sessions that make sense for you.
  2. Preparation. Your skin is cleansed thoroughly. Many boosters contain a local anaesthetic, and the treatment uses fine needles.
  3. Treatment. The product is placed into the skin at a small number of points. Most appointments take well under an hour including consultation.
  4. Straight after. You may see small raised bumps where the product was placed. These usually settle within a day as the product spreads.

Results, Sessions and Aftercare

Skin boosters work gradually. Your skin will often feel more hydrated within a week or two, with the full improvement building over the following weeks as your skin responds. Profhilo is usually given as two sessions about four weeks apart, then topped up every few months to maintain the result. Other boosters may be recommended as a short course; we will set this out clearly at your consultation so you know the full cost before you start.

For the first day or two, avoid make-up on the treated area, strenuous exercise, saunas, alcohol and touching or massaging your face. Mild redness, swelling, tenderness or small bruises can happen and usually settle within a few days. Daily SPF and a good skincare routine will help your results last; ask us about Obagi medical-grade skincare at our sister clinic, HC Skin.

Skin Boosters or Something Else?

If your main concern is lost volume, such as flat cheeks or hollow temples, dermal fillers may suit you better. Expression lines on the forehead and around the eyes respond best to anti-wrinkle injections. For collagen stimulation over a longer period, look at Sculptra, and for texture, scarring and pores, microneedling. Many clients combine treatments, and we will help you plan the order.

Profhilo and Skin Boosters: The Questions Everyone Asks

Is Profhilo the same as filler?

No. Profhilo and other skin boosters hydrate and improve the quality of the skin. They are not designed to add volume or change the shape of your features in the way a dermal filler does.

Does it hurt?

Most clients find skin boosters very manageable. The needles are fine, many products contain a local anaesthetic, and each injection only takes a moment.

How many sessions will I need?

Profhilo is usually two sessions about four weeks apart, followed by maintenance top-ups. Other boosters may be recommended as a short course. We will confirm the plan and the full cost at your consultation.

When will I see results?

Skin often feels more hydrated within one to two weeks, and the improvement continues to build over the following weeks as your skin produces more collagen and elastin.

Is there any downtime?

Very little. You may have small bumps at the injection points for up to a day, and possibly mild redness or bruising for a few days. Most people go straight back to normal plans.

Which skin booster is right for me?

It depends on your skin, the area you want to treat and your budget. Lumi Eyes is designed for under the eyes, while Profhilo is our most popular choice for overall skin quality and early laxity. We will recommend the right option at your consultation.
